HUNDREDS of residents flocked to bdht’s annual summer fun days, to help raise almost £1,500 towards furnishing the popular Starlight Café in Charford.

More than 600 people came along to the days, held last month in Sidemoor and Charford, to enjoy a free bouncy castle, face painting, pony rides, tombola and raffle stalls.

Ashlea Green, driving futures manager at bdht, said: “We had a fantastic turn out this year and were really pleased to see so many families having so much fun together.

“Collectively we’ve raised an amazing amount of money and we’re delighted to be able to put this towards some new furniture for the Starlight Café, which was redecorated last year with the help of volunteers from Halfords.

“The café has become really popular, with more than 200 local people visiting each week to join in with classes, courses and social activities, as well as just coming in for the wonderful food we serve, so we’re really keen to ensure that the facilities and equipment meet their needs.

“Thank you to everyone who came along to the fun days and helped us to raise such valuable funds, and a special thanks to Councillor Chris Bloore who once again supported the events.”
