MOVIE buffs in Redditch have not got long to wait for the release of local horror film Penny For The Guy.

Big Frog Films, based in the town centre, have been spotted out and about filming in various locations throughout the year but say it is now coming to a close, with a release date set for next year.

The company remain tight lipped on the story, set in present day Redditch, as they doesn’t want to give too much away but say there are a few twists and turns and shock moments throughout.

Writer, producer and one of the stars Nigel Buckley, said: "We’re in the final phase of filming it now.

"The latest scene took place at Champagne Express and we had a total of 16 actors and extras on the night. The scene is a surreal dreamlike piece that centres around lead characters Imelda and Frank."

The film, which started out as an 18 minute short (available to view on YouTube) was spotted by American producer Gil Ponce who gave the company the funds to turn it into a full-length feature.

Gil, founder of filmmakers tool suite Cinelaya, flew in from Seattle for a week earlier this year to join the team on a 24-hour shoot in Stoke Prior.

Filming is due for completion by the end of the year with a release scheduled for 2018.
