A NEW outdoor gym and junior football area is to be installed in Leominster thanks to lottery funding.
Leominster Town Council has been successful in gaining a grant of £9,447 from The Big Lottery Fund – Awards for All, to fund the exciting new additions to the Sydonia area.
These will be installed early next year at the same time as works to upgrade the play area are carried out. The Hereford Times has previously reported how plans drawn up by HAGS SMP for the refurbishment of the Sydonia include a zip line and a boulder seating area as well as the more traditional swings, slides and climbing wall.
Julie Debbage, environmental services supervisor at Leominster Town Council, said: "In 2016, the town council took over responsibility for Sydonia from Herefordshire Council.
"The town council environmental team in association with volunteers, have been working on clearing the overgrown shrubs to improve visibility and cleaning the area ready for the changes.
"We have also secured funding from the Kingspan Insulation Community Trust to provide a series of skateboarding workshops to introduce young people to skateboarding in Sydonia."
