A SWEET-TOOTHED Cofton Hackett boy has won a dream prize as a taster in a top sweet factory.

George Nash, aged ten, will become an official HARIBO sweet taster and will experience a once-in-a-lifetime training day in its world famous factory.

George is one of eight lucky children to be selected from hundreds of nationwide entrants to spend the day at the HARIBO sweet factory in Pontefract, on August 22.

His training will begin with an exclusive tour of the factory. He will then be taught how the nation's favourite sweet makers create their fantastic treats from beginning to end.

Putting these new skills and knowledge to use, the fun will really begin when George becomes a HARIBO boss and takes charge of the factory for the day. He will also test and score new sweets that have never been seen before in the UK.

George won this scrumptious dream day by entering his own sweet design of a bee in the HARIBO sweet taster's competition. Judges received hundreds of creative designs, but George impressed them with his fun design and use of colours.

Judges will also choose the best overall design submitted by the eight children and two adults and George could be in with a chance of having his own creation turned into a limited edition drum to be sold in the HARIBOLAND shop. If George's design is not picked, he could still be in with a chance of becoming the official HARIBO sweet taster and be sent more new sweets later in the year to test and score with friends.

George said: "My friends didn't believe me when I first told them I'd won. I can't wait to visit the HARIBO factory as I have always wanted to see how my favourite sweets are made. And to become a HARIBO boss for the day will be so much fun."

Per Henérius, from HARIBO, added: "This year's competition was proving to be very popular. With hundreds of entries, selecting the final eight children and two adults was very tough. However, George's original design stood out and really impressed the HARIBO judges. I hope that he enjoys the day, which is all about having fun and enjoying a unique experience. I'm sure George will prove to be a valued member of the HARIBO team."
