A FAMILY farming business in Wythall has undergone a £400,000 makeover.

Becketts Farm Restaurant introduced its now multi-award winning restaurant in 1996 to compliment the on-site farm shop.

After its last major refurbishment in 2008 the decision was made to undertake another refurb to maintain the ‘modern farmhouse dining’ theme.

Jim Thompson, from Becketts Farm, said: “It’s been a busy few months as we’ve dreamt up the details of a brand new kitchen including extension, brand new restaurant environment with an additional seating, re-imaged the coffee shop and completely refurbished the washrooms including the building of a brand new, dedicated baby change facility.

"We sincerely hope that our guests will love it.”

He added: "The kitchen is the hub of our trade, and will have brand new equipment and layout to allow the team of chefs a better working space."

The re-opening, which took place earlier this week, has also seen the restaurant launch a brand new menu.

The menu has been developed with the company ethos in mind, to support local producers and suppliers wherever possible, and items include an oxtail pie, a gluten free breakfast, a handmade scotch egg, and a 5oz rump steak ciabatta.

While today Becketts Farm is known for its retail and hospitality business, over the past 80 years it has grown and diversified alongside the community that it serves.

The farm was originally purchased by Albert Beckett, a dairy farmer who moved from Shropshire with his small herd of cows.

It has since been passed through the generations, first to Albert’s son Alan, and then to his son and current managing director, Simon Beckett.
