Two lanes are closed and heavy traffic due to an earlier accident which involved three vehicles on M5 southbound between J4A M42 and J5 A38 (Droitwich / Wychbold), with congestion on M42 to J2 A441 (Alvechurch / Redditch).

Traffic was held from 5.40am to 6.20am to enable an ambulance to attend the scene. Cameras show surface water on the motorway. All lanes were very briefly opened at 6.30am before being closed again.

There are areas of planned roadworks which are causing delays, they include: Speed restriction of 30 mph and one lane closed due to major roadworks and contraflow on M5 both ways between J1 (West Bromwich / Birmingham) and J2 (Oldbury). Work on the Oldbury Viaduct means that all traffic is sharing one side of the road as a contraflow.

There are speed restriction of 20 mph in Pensnett due to roadworks and temporary traffic lights on A4101 High Street at High Oak.

One lane is closed and there are speed restriction of 50 mph due to barrier repairs on M5 southbound between J3 A456 (Halesowen / Birmingham) and J4 A38 (Bromsgrove / Stourbridge). Lane one is closed while planned repairs to the barrier take place.

Temporary traffic lights and roadworks are causing delays on Doulton Road in Rowley Regis between Powke Lane / Gawne Lane and Cornfield Road, while in Stourbridge, Parkfield Road is closed due to bridge maintenance work between Burnt Oak Drive and Vauxhall Road. The road is closed in the short one-way section on the bridge over the railway line near Stourbridge Town station.

Elsewhere, in Netherton, St Andrew's Street is closed due to sewer works between Kingsley Street and Church Road / Marriott Road. Bus 81 diverted via Cinder Bank and Slims Lane, while there is a speed restriction of 30 mph due to roadworks on A38 Stoke Road westbound in Stoke Heath between Sherwood Road and B4094 Worcester Road.

Comberton Avenue in Kidderminster is closed both ways due to carriageway repairs and resurfacing work between Borrington Road and Somerleyton Avenue, and Caunsall Road in Caunsall is closed both ways until April 20 due to roadworks between New Road and A449. The road closure is nearby the Anchor Inn.
