HARVEY Weinstein will face trial after being charged with rape.

The disgraced film producer, making his first public appearance since October, spoke only to confirm he understood the charges which involve two separate women.

It is the first time Weinstein has faced criminal charges since an avalanche of accusations – including from some of Hollywood’s biggest stars – first emerged last year, sparking the international MeToo and Time’s Up movements.

COMPLAINTS have been filed against Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Google within hours of new EU data laws taking effect.

Privacy group Noyb said it filed the complaints because it believes the technology companies are using what it calls “forced consent”.

As part of the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), companies that gather data are required to gain consent, freely given, from users to collect and use their personal information.

A STUDENT has been arrested after a shooting at a US middle school left a teacher and another pupil injured, officials said.

Noblesville Police Chief Kevin Jowitt said the male student suspected in Friday morning’s shooting at Noblesville West Middle School, in suburban Indianapolis, is in custody and is believed to have acted alone.

The teacher and student who were wounded in the attack were taken to hospital in Indianapolis. The severity of their injuries is unknown.
