IT was perfect weather for the annual Bromsgrove Court Leet Fair Day and Elizabethan Street Market on Saturday.
Crowds watched the Shirley Pipe Band lead the procession from Houseman Hall at 10.30am through Bromsgrove High Street.
The event commemorated King John’s Royal Charter of 1199 and finished with court members gathering for the assizes and proclamation at 11am.
Local fundraisers donned their traditional costumes for the Elizabethan Market Stalls with Norton Collection Museum winning the best-dressed prize, and Bromsgrove Lions Club taking second.
Senior Ale Taster Jo Slade, who took part in the ale tasting at the Red Lion, said "Fair Day sees the Court Leet upholding long standing traditions in Bromsgrove.
“This year we had a fantastic day in the sunshine for the assize of ale, bread, leather and flesh, the Brook Looker's report and the proclamation of the 1199 charter to the town.
“We were delighted to have MP Sajid Javid joining in the proceeding of the day."
