JACK Whitehall’s casting in a new Disney film has sparked an outcry, following reports he will play an openly gay character.

The comedian has confirmed he is set to star in Jungle Cruise, and The Sun reported that he would play a character who was “hugely effete, very camp”, with a source claiming: “He is playing a gay man.”

Critics are now asking why a gay actor was not picked for the part.

AUTHOR and former University Challenge contestant Bobby Seagull has revealed he turned down an offer to appear on Celebrity Big Brother after his appearances on the BBC quiz show went viral online.

Seagull earned a cult following among some of the show’s viewers as team captain of Emmanuel College, Cambridge during their run to the show’s semi-finals last year.

Seagull told the Press Association he was also propositioned last year by the makers of Channel 4 reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother about becoming a housemate.

ADELE has praised her best friend for sharing her “heartbreaking” account of suffering from post-partum psychosis.

The singer, 30, posted a photograph on Instagram of herself and Laura Dockrill, who welcomed a son – Adele’s godson – six months ago.

ASTRONAUT Tim Peake joked that he was putting his spandex back in the drawer after finding out he is not a Strictly Come Dancing contestant.

The joke started when journalist Lauren Turner posted a message on Twitter saying she had thought a teaser about Red Dwarf actor Danny John-Jules signing up for the BBC show had actually been about Peake.

There had been rumours that Peake had signed up after Claudia Winkleman, one of the Strictly hosts, referred to an “out of this world” contestant in a teaser video.
