BROMSGROVE hockey captain Julian Court is targeting promotion to the West Midlands Premier League as his side prepare to kick off their campaign against Evesham on September 29.
Court's side have narrowly missed out on promotion in the past two seasons, but he believes his side can go one better this time around.
They had the ideal preparation for their Division One season, by beating Premier League side Kidderminster 5-4 on Saturday.
Mark Robinson scored three times, while Peter Hall and Russell McGettigian were also on target.
Court said: "The last couple of years we have come very close to winning promotion.
"We fell away in the last few weeks last season.
"We never really start very well, so this time we are aiming for a good start."
Bromsgrove will be boosted by the arrival of Ashley Clarke from Edgbaston and David Whiting who has joined from South Nottingham.
Bromsgrove Ladies have begun preparations for the new season, beginning training at Bromsgrove School.
They are looking to build upon a promising season last year which saw all three teams achieve mid-table positions.
Coach Alan Gormley said: "We have an excellent mix of young and older players right through the sides.
"Their achievements last season were a real credit to their dedication and application both on and off the pitch.
"Our pre-season warm up games are already showing that the coming season could see something special."
The side are looking to recruit more players.
Anyone interested should attend training sessions on Thursday nights, from 8pm.
