UPDATE- Highways England say "The #M42 north at J2 for #Alvechurch is now reopened following the earlier vehicle fire."

One lane was closed on the M42 northbound junction two for Alvechurch after a vehicle caught fire on June 3.

Firefighters were called at 8:30 in the morning to the incident near Hopwood Services. 

The car, which was a black Astra,  was on the hard shoulder and extinguished using a hosereel jet. 

Traffic officers were also working to clear a large oil spillage from lanes one, two and three. 

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were in attendance before handing over to Hereford and Worcester Fire Rescue Service. 

Highways England said there were long delays of up to 30 minutes and four miles of queuing traffic back to junction one for Bromsgrove. 

West Midlands Ambulance Service were also at the scene.
