TOWNSFOLK will be able to sleep safely in their beds on chilly winter nights safe in the knowledge that their electric blankets are safe.
An electric blanket testing session is being held in Bromsgrove and owners are being invited to have their blankets tested free of charge.
If a blanket fails, a free replacement will be offered, although stocks are limited.
Julie Udall, community safety advisor for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, says blankets over three years should be tested annually and any over ten years replaced.
The tests are being organised by the fire service in partnership with Age Concern, the police, Bromsgrove Life Line, and other agencies. Representatives will be on hand to give advice at the event. Warwickshire Energy Advice Centre will also distribute free low energy light bulbs.
The testing will be held at Amphlett Hall in Crown Close, Bromsgrove, on Thursday, January 31, from 10am to 1pm. To book an appointment call 01562 512612.
