PEOPLE are being invited to put clutter to good use while spring cleaning.
Worcestershire County Council's waste prevention team is encouraging residents to think twice about what they throw out at this time of year.
Chris Atkinson, Worcestershire County Council's project development officer, said: "Spring is often the time we choose to tidy and improve our homes, while organising our belongings. We are encouraging people to remember to send their unwanted possessions for re-use while they de-clutter their home.
"In Worcestershire many voluntary and community organisations gladly take unwanted items that are still in good condition, such as furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles and paint. These items are then made available to other members of the community. Re-using valuable resources in this way can help to reduce waste and also support a host of good causes in the process." A leaflet containing details of the county's local re-use organisations is available from the County Council.
Alternatively, residents can try offering their unwanted items on the internet by using the Freecycle website. Local Freecycle groups can be found at www.freecycle.org Those interested in finding out more about re-use initiatives can call 01905 766883 or visit www.wastemissionimpossible.org.uk
