A £20,000 scheme to slow down traffic through Stoke Prior is to come into force after residents said speeders were making their lives a misery.
The parish council and Worcestershire County County stumped up £10,000 each for vehicle activated slow down signs, which will be positioned near the entrances to the village.
“As a parish council we put the money towards the project because so many residents were telling us that more vehicles were speeding through the village making their lives an absolute misery."
Chairman of Stoke Parish Council, Thelma Roll
Chairman of Stoke Parish Council, Thelma Roll said: "As a parish council we put the money towards the project because so many residents were telling us that more vehicles were speeding through the village making their lives an absolute misery. There have been many small accidents and near misses. Something really serious is just waiting to happen."
Head of Bromsgrove's highways, Jon Fraser, said work should take place in four to six weeks. He said: "The signs will be installed along the Hanbury Road and Shaw Lane. We are planning ten in all throughout the district."
