Calling all venues

5:54pm Tuesday 10th June 2008

A NUMBER of Worcestershire's top attractions, from hotels to sports clubs and theme parks have teamed up to put the county - including Bromsgrove - on the business tourism map.

Now conference-worcestershire has issued a final call for others to join up and get themselves noticed.

In the past 12 months alone, conference-worcestershire has waved the flag for Worcestershire at events across the country, published 3,500 free conference guides, launched brand new on and off-line marketing campaigns, and continually publicised its members through national and regional press.

The busy county-council run team promotes the county as the ideal place for companies to head to when planning a conference, corporate event or team-building away day, and provides a free venue-finding service, to help find the perfect location.

Head of the service, Emma Robinson, is now finalising membership for the next 12 months and is keen for any venues or event specialists interested in joining up to get in touch.

"It's all about being visible," she explained. "Our range of member venues and service providers is absolutely fantastic, and we take every opportunity to highlight their key strengths, whether that is through our on-line marketing campaigns, press articles, or direct to thousands of people at top national conferencing events.

The past year has seen the launch of a raft of new conference-worcestershire marketing campaigns, which, alongside on-going PR activity, promotes members through direct mail, e-postcards, newsletters, press articles, the member guide and the conference-worcestershire website.

Current members include international names such as the Hilton Bromsgrove and The Pear Tree at Smite. While Worcester Racecourse and Sixways, not far from Droitwich, and home of Worcester Rugby Club are among the other diverse and varied member venues.

Astons Coaches and Marksman Leisure, the outdoor pursuits centre at Hanbury, are among the associate members.

Miss Robinson added: "Worcestershire is ideally located in the heart of England, with excellent transport links, stunning scenery, and, most of all, fantastic venues.

"We are constantly working hard to highlight everything that the county offers and showing companies that it really is the ideal place to visit."

Any organistion wanting to find out more about becoming a conference-worcestershire member or associate member, should contact Emma Robinson, on 01905 766895 or e-mail conference@worcestershire.gov.uk. The deadline for membership is Thursday, June 19.
