HAGLEY police station on the Kidderminster Road will be closing next month for a complete refurbishment.

The station will be undergoing improvements from July 14 to make it compliant with Disability Discrimination Act requirements.

It is expected that the entrance will have a new ramp and porch to allow better disabled access along with a new front counter and toilet for disabled people. The car park will also be resurfaced and a one way system will be put in place, with disabled parking at the front of the building.

Further work to improve officer facilities will take place inside the station as part of a long overdue refurbishment, which include rewiring and new plumbing. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October/early November.

Hagley will continue to be policed on a 24/7 basis with both the response officers and the Local Policing Teams working out of nearby Rubery station for the duration of the refurbishment.

Officers will continue to patrol Hagley as normal and the Local Policing Team led by Sergeant Andy Millwood and PC Chris Lord can be contacted on the usual number, 08457 444 888.

Chief Inspector Tony Love said: "The refurbishment is long overdue and will have a great impact on my officers' working environment whilst making it more accessible to members of the public. I would like to assure Hagley residents that the cover provided will in no way be compromised and that all local meetings and commitments will continue to be honoured during the refurbishment"
