A POPULAR beer and cider festival which was at risk of being axed will go ahead after all.

Wyre Forest Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), who organise the annual Kidderminster Beer and Cider Festival, were worried they wouldn't be able to run the 2024 event because not enough people filled key roles in the festival organisation.

However, CAMRA has now announced that their festival will now be going ahead this November as usual.

CAMRA chairman Rob Budworth said: “I am tremendously pleased to say that following our public appeal a few weeks ago, we have had several extra people offer to get involved and help organise the Festival.

"When we met on April 25th, it was agreed that we had a good team coming together with enough ability for the required roles”.

The new Festival Coordinator is Doug Hine. He said: “I’ve volunteered with the Festival in smaller roles previously, but now I have recently retired, I am pleased to take on a major volunteering project.

"We have a good team who will need to work together to produce another successful Beer and Cider Festival.

“The Festival is booked to run this 7th to 9th November at the venue that welcomed hundreds of visitors last year – the Kidderminster Harriers Social and Supporters Club.  We’re now moving on to signing up the volunteers we need for the 3 days and to select the beer, cider, gin, wine and entertainment that we will have.”
