THE rehearsals for Cowdenbeath Rotary Club’s Community Concert are now in full swing.

The concert takes place on Friday May 17, at Lochgelly Centre Theatre, where a packed line-up of local entertainers will take to the stage.

The concert is one of the rotary club’s events which will bring their centenary year to its end.

Our photographer Dave Wardle caught up with some of the artistes at a rehearsal, at Cowdenbeath’s Trinity Church, as they were being put through their paces by show concert director, Elaine Green, the well-known singer from the town.

And pictured are members of the Soul Accord vocal combination; talented youngsters, Airlie Green 10, and Brooke Hodge, 12; and acoustic guitar player and singer, James Reekie.

Elaine Green said: “The concert is one of those events which will display the quality of talent we have in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

“Soul Accord are local ladies who have come together to enjoy singing and in a short time have become very able performers. They have gained in confidence with every performance.

“Young Airlie and Brooke are very good performers, who despite their tender ages, are packed with talent, while James is a gifted acoustic guitarist, with a lovely voice, who sings ‘Bluegrass’ numbers, a mixture of the blues and country music.”

These are just four of the acts that will take the stage on May 17, and Elaine added: “We have a quite an array of talent looking forward to performing at our local theatre for a very good cause.”

Next week, we will look at the other local entertainers who will take part.

Tickets are priced at £12, with concessions £8, and children £5, and can be obtained at Lochgelly Centre Box Office.

All proceeds will go into the Rotary Club’s charities find to help local good causes.
