BUS traveller Keith Slaughter had first hand experience of Saturday’s floods when he was returning to his Droitwich home from Birmingham.
Mr Slaughter says: “I think a gold medal should go to the Polish driver/captain of the 144 double decker (water?) bus from the Bull Ring, Birmingham to Worcester, on Saturday afternoon.
“What an adventure! We left Birmingham around 3pm and were diverted immediately on to the Pershore Road. All unfamiliar territory for the driver, only to be stranded when the road became flooded.
“After much deliberation and with the help of an able bosun we diverted again round Pebble Mill and then further on through Weoley Castle, crossing several flooded roads, to eventually reach my destination after a three hour journey at Droitwich,” added Mr Slaughter.
“I only hope that those going on to the terminus at Worcester have arrived by the publishing date of this paper!
“And I hope that the bus company recognise the driver's tenacity and patience, especially as he had to deal with a very unpleasant passenger who made me ashamed to be English.”
