AN inspirational town woman is urging all those suffering from the effects of Christmas past to get into shape for spring.

Forty-two-year-old Lisa Jacobs, from The Oakalls, has just won the Best Cambridge Diet Counsellor of the Year award out of 1,700 contestants nationwide.

Since Lisa’s dress size plummeted from 20 to 12 in one year she vowed to spread the word about keeping healthy and fit. Two years ago she left her job to become a full-time counsellor and now she has not only won the 2008 top accolade, but as a prize she is going on an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas.

Lisa said: “After losing the weight I felt absolutely fantastic. Then after I gave up my job to become a Cambridge diet counsellor I never looked back. I decided to leave my job as an office manager at the University of Birmingham to become a counsellor because I wanted to help other people to feel the same way as I do.”

The glittering ceremony was held at the Cambridge Counsellor Christmas Conference at Savill Hotel and Spa in Egham. About 500 counsellors and slimmers attended the event.
