TRIBUTES have been paid by the family of Bryan Gilliver who died while out cycling in Tardebigge earlier this month.

Mr Gilliver was found dead with his bike in Alcester Road shortly after 1pm on Monday, April 6, by a motorist travelling from Bromsgrove.

The 57-year-old, from Aston Fields, was a former building society manager who worked for more than 20 years for the Abbey National.

He travelled in his job, which brought him to Bromsgrove, having originated from the Nottingham area. After retiring from the building society at 50, he became a part time taxi driver, working in Bromsgrove.

He was married to Linda for nearly 11 years and had a daughter, Stephanie, aged 29, from a previous marriage.

Linda Gilliver called him a “genuine, kind hearted and intelligent man.”

She said: “He was incredibly sociable, loved life and always saw the good in everyone. He touched my life in a way that no one ever has before and I was privileged to be his wife.

“My life will never be the same again and when he lost his life, he took mine with him.”

Among his interests were cycling, badminton, history, reading and going away on holiday abroad. Mr Gilliver had also belonged to Club 41, a branch of the Round Table, and was a popular and well liked member.

Police had originally appealed for witnesses as they attempted to establish the full circumstances of the death.

PC Paul Bosley, of the North Worcestershire Road Policing Unit, said: “A post mortem examination confirmed Mr Gilliver died from natural causes and therefore no inquest will be held.

“We are satisfied no other vehicles were involved.”

PC Bosley also thanked members of the public who contacted them with information into the death.
