BROMSGROVE and Rubery residents are being given the chance to honour returning servicemen and women at a military tattoo.
The special event, thought to be the biggest of its kind in the district, is being held at Waseley Hills High School, in School Road, this Saturday, July 11 between noon and 4pm.
The event is set to feature a number of military bands and performers, beginning with a parade and march to the school by the Fire Service Band, from 11.30pm in Rubery High Street.
At 12.30pm, samba band Someone at the Door will open the school events. At 1pm, the Fire Service Band Seated Concert will perform, which will then be followed by a parade of standards.
Bhangra Dance, a second Samba band, the Priyas Dance Academy and the Band of the Pipe and Drums are then set to appear.
Demonstrations will be performed by the British Airborne Re-Enactment Society, and the cadet corps at around 3pm. At 3.30pm, all performers will then join together for a final parade.
There are a variety of attractions for visitors, including wall climbing, paintballing, and a pig roast.
Organiser Graham Handley said a number of local businesses were supporting the event, which is set to raise meony for the Help the Heroes charity.
Admission is free, but a program of events can be bought for £1, which also includes a raffle ticket.
Waseley councillor Peter McDonald said “It is wonderful to see everybody come together to make this special event happen.”
