A STUDLEY band is proud of its performances after coming third in the national finals of a music competition for unsigned bands.
Sally Morris, 20, lead singer of Drunk Lovers, Sinners & Saints, joined bandmates James Watton, Jake Yapp and Emma Chilton at the grand final of the Live and Unsigned competition, held at the Guildhall in Portsmouth on June 27.
The foursome managed to get through both the regional finals and area finals of the contest, beating thousands of bands along the way.
Sally said: “We are really pleased with how far we got - the band has come on lots and this is just the start of things. It’s also helped to raise our profile and we don’t see not coming first as a bad thing.”
The band first met at an open mike night at the Royal Oak in Studley, which was a long way from performing in a 2,000 capacity venue during the final.
“We were second on and that put a bit of pressure on us but we got on stage and I don’t think any of us were nervous - the adrenaline took over and we played as well as we could,” she added.
Live and Unsigned searches for the most talented unsigned acts in the country and had more than 10,000 registrations in last year’s competition.
The band have been approached by a number of producers wanting to work with them and and are preparing to record their first EP soon.
