THREE women who run Slimming World classes in Redditch, Bromsgrove, Alvechurch and Studley celebrated the organisation’s 40th anniversary by cuddling up to TV and radio personality Vernon Kay.
Gaynor Hall, who runs classes at Bromsgrove Rugby Club and St John’s Church Hall, Redditch, Karen Parkes, who holds her classes at The Ark, Alvechurch, along with Pam Smith, who runs classes at Studley Community Infants and Kingsley Sports Centre, Woodrow, met Vernon at a Slimming World awards ceremony for the most successful slimmers.
Accompanying Vernon to host the event was Slimming World’s founder and chairman Margaret Miles-Bramwell.
Vernon, who is a Radio 1 DJ and hosts TV’s Family Fortunes and Beat the Star, said: “I’ve met a lot of inspirational women in my career, and these women are just that - inspirational.
“It’s amazing to think that back in 1969, Margaret had a dream to help people lose weight and now, more than 40 years later, that dream is a reality, with thousands of Slimming World consultants like Gaynor, Pat and Karen helping people to slim and achieve their own dreams every week.”
The women said that meeting Vernon had been wonderful way to end a wonderful ruby anniversary year for the organisation.
