NEARLY £1,500 has been raised for a special school in Kenya thanks to a charity concert.
More than 100 Bromsgrove residents turned up for the night, featuring local comedians and bands, and managed to raise £1,495.
The concert, organised by comedian Rod Beech on behalf of Jan Drew and husband Brian, was in aid of Hill Wheeler School.
Since discovering the school three years ago while on a holiday the couple have been raising cash which will go toward building a block of six classrooms to replace the old block which collapsed due to rotting wood.
Jan said: “We’re almost there, but still need to raise about £300 more to complete the block, plus about £600 to put in concrete floors.
“If anyone feels able to help us by donating something towards our target, please can they get in touch and I will include it in the total we will be taking with us when we travel to Kenya on February 15.”
Jan added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out. It was very much appreciated.”
To donate money to the school call 01384 371397.
