Chadsgrove pupils raise charity cash

PUPILS with physical disabilities have raised cash for a national charity.

Youngsters from Chadsgrove Special School in Bromsgrove visited a communication support meeting on Thursday, February 4 to present a cheque to The Stroke Association following a successful coffee morning event.

Sandra Langford, coordinator for the Communication Support Service in Bromsgrove, acceped the cheque on behalf of the charity.

The Stroke Association’s Communication Support Service supports people with aphasia, a condition often caused by stroke which affects a person’s ability to speak, understand, read and/or write.

A technique called supported conversation assists the communication process by using alternative forms of communication to speech.

Trained volunteers support stroke survivors on all aspects of communication, helping stroke survivors achieve the best possible recovery from stroke.

“We’re so grateful for the tremendous effort that the pupils of Chadsgrove School have made to help raise funds for and awareness of stroke. Stroke is the single biggest cause of adult disability. This donation will help support our vision of creating a world where fewer strokes occur and all those affected get the help they need,” said Sandra.
