BROMSGROVE police are investigating the assault of a man as he cycled through Aston Fields.

The incident happened shortly before 6.30pm, on Monday, March 22, when the man, in his 20s, was cycling along St Godwald's Road towards Tardebigge.

A van approached him from behind, and tried to overtake.

The van driver started to get frustrated at being unable to pass the cyclist and started sounding the horn.

The cyclist moved over as far as he could and the van passed him, but breaked and stopped in front of him.

An object was then thrown at the cyclist through the passenger window of the van, hitting him on the head.

The van is said to be a white Ford Connect with large lettering on the side of it, possibly including the letters CCS and some smaller letters, which may have included the words ‘law enforcement’.

The driver is described as being in his 30s with a bald head while the passenger is said to be a younger male, with dark spiky hair.

PC Sam Peterson, from Bromsgrove police, said: “Fortunately the cyclist was wearing a helmet and so was not injured as a result of this incident. Nevertheless, it’s important that we identify those involved and we’re appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, recalls seeing the van in the Aston Fields area or feels they may know who this is from the description given, to get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Bromsgrove police on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident 729-S-220310, or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
