SAJID Javid, MP for Bromsgrove, visited The Stroke Association’s Life After Stroke Centre recently and showed his support by laying the last brick in the building’s new reception area.

Mr Javis said he was honoured and delighted to support the centre.

He added: “This facility will play a vital role in supporting stroke survivors and their families, not just in Bromsgrove but throughout the region as well.”

The multi-million pound stroke centre, based in Bromsgrove, is expected to open to the public later this year. The Life After Stroke Centre already has the backing of actor, singer and presenter, Michael Ball and R&B singer Beverley Knight.

Claire Benfield, The Stroke Association’s fundraiser for Bromsgrove, said: “Every five minutes someone in the UK has a stroke. It is the leading cause of severe adult disability. The consequences can be devastating. This Centre will ensure we can help many more people with their recovery on their journey back from stroke.”
