BROMSGROVE MP pledged his support to Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) when he signed a book of commitment at the House of Commons.
In the weeks running up to HMD the Holocaust Educational Trust placed the book in the commons, to give MPs the chance to honour those who were persecuted and killed.
In signing the book, town MP Sajid Javid paid tribute to the extraordinary men and women who, having survived the Holocaust, work to educate young people about what they endured through the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Outreach programme.
Sajid said: “HMD marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, and it is an important opportunity to remember the victims of genocide.
“I visited Auschwitz-Birkenau last year with a group of local teenagers on an educational trip organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust, and it was a very emotional and sobering experience.
“It is vitally important we both remember and learn from the appalling events of the Holocaust – as well as ensuring that we continue to challenge all forms of bigotry."
