Heartless thieves steal charity money from town salon
3:00pm Friday 29th June 2012 in News
BROMSGROVE police are investigating a burglary at a hairdressers in which hundreds of pounds of sponsorship money for a children's charity was stolen.
Honesty's Salon, on Stoke Road in Aston Fields, was broken into between 11pm-midnight on Monday, June 25.
A total of £800, which had been collected by the manager for a sponsored walk, as well as five cash boxes containing tip money for the staff, was stolen from behind the till.
PC David Hanson from Bromsgrove police station said: "The money was being collected for Children with Cancer, a charity which aims to determine the causes, find cures and provide care for children with cancer.
"It would have been quite clear from the container the cash was in and the sponsorship forms within, that the money was intended for charity.
"Whoever has stolen this money has denied the charity and the children it cares for from benefiting from the manager's fantastic fundraising efforts.
“This is a heartless crime and we are keen to catch the person or people responsible for committing it.”
