Newsquest websites continue to attract bigger audiences
12:29pm Monday 3rd September 2012 in News
Newsquest Media Group, owner of the Advertisers in Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch, has reported that almost half a million unique visitors accessed its network of websites every day in the first six months of this year.
Its January-June 2012 ABC website audit showed a daily average of 499,292 unique visitors to its 158 local media brand sites – year-on-year growth of 9.4% (Jan-Jun 2011: 456,230).
The variety of devices being used to access Newsquest regional and local content continues to increase, with more than a quarter of visitors (25.9%) using smart phone and tablet devices in June 2012 -- up from 10.6% at the end of last year’s January–June reporting period.
Roger Green, Managing Director of Digital Media for Newsquest, said: “This is the 13th consecutive audited increase for Newsquest since we first published an ABC certificate in May 2005. It’s been powered in particular by the cutting edge, web-first reporting and interaction tools being embraced by our newsrooms.
“These tools have been used to cover not only murder, mayhem and football transfers, but as the Olympic torch relay passed through Newsquest cities, towns and villages our audiences responded in their thousands as they engaged with our content through comments, tweets and other share tools.”
Green added: “Commercially, Newsquest’s digital advertisers are benefiting not just from our numbers but also from innovations in demographic, behavioural and contextual tools that get the right messages to the right people at the right time.
