Man arrested after cannabis seized at Bromsgrove property

A MAN has been arrested after police seized cannabis plants at a Bromsgrove property yesterday, (September 2).

Officers, on patrol, entered the premises in the early morning after they became aware of a strong smell of cannabis coming from the property in Birmingham Road.

The police discovered more than 400 plants in the upstairs bedrooms, along with equipment used for cultivation.

A man was arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled drug, cannabis, and has been released on police bail until November 11, pending further inquiries.

When officers arrived, a second man ran from the property, jumping over a garden fence.

He was last seen running in the direction of Catkin Close and Oak Apple Road.

PC Dave Alsop said: "We are eager to hear from anyone who may have seen the man running from the property early on Sunday morning and would also like to hear from anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity, including any vehicles parked outside."

Witnesses told the Advertiser three police vehicles and a riot van attended the incident, cordoned off the property, and the strong smell of cannabis was still in the air mid-afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Alsop on the non-emergency number 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
