AN application to build a housing development on land at Norton Farm has been submitted to Bromsgrove District Council.

Developers Gallagher Estates say it has submitted the application for 316 homes, ranging from two to three bedrooms, following extensive consultations with local residents.

In July 2011, more than 200 people attended a public exhibition on the proposals for the site west of Birmingham Road, with almost 100 residents raising specific issues with the developers.

The developers say it has written to those who raised concerns to reassure them their comments were taken into account, before the submission of the application.

Stuart Field, from Barton Willmore working on behalf of Gallagher Estates, said: “Some residents were concerned that local roads, especially Birmingham Road, wouldn’t be able to cope with the extra traffic from the new homes.

“We’ve now carried out a full transport assessment to look into this.

“As a result we’ve incorporated road network improvements into our proposals as well as enhancing sustainable transport measures.”

“We’re confident that these plans will help to deliver much needed homes for the local community.”

The application is expected to go before the council’s planning committee for a decision, later this year.
