A BROMSGROVE teenager is among a group of eight young men starting a career in the military.

Ben Mason, 16, from South Bromsgrove school, recently pledged his allegiance to Queen and Country in a service in front of friends and family.

Ben, part of the Royal Artillery – Gunner Crewman, will now either begin his military training at the Army Foundation College in North Yorkshire or at Army Training Centre Pirbright in Surrey.

Major David Manners, army recruitment officer for the region, said: “I’m delighted that this group of local young men are taking this important first step towards a military career and I wish them all the best for the future.”
