Views of Bromsgrove blue badge holders to be discussed

THE views of disabled blue badge holders will be discussed at a Bromsgrove public meeting this Monday as the results of a large survey come in.

Bromsgrove District Council’s overview and scrutiny board will receive a presentation on the results of a wide-reaching survey sent to 1,200 blue badge holders who are entitled to disabled parking services in the district, such as an extra hour’s parking free and accessible parking spaces.

The public meeting starts at 6pm on Monday, September 10, in the council chamber at the Council House, Burcot Lane, Bromsgrove.

A cross party working group conducted the survey to ask blue badge holders about their use of car parks in Bromsgrove. Almost 40 per cent of surveys were returned and the research and intelligence unit of Worcestershire County Council has compiled a comprehensive report into the results which will be presented at the meeting.

Committee chairman Councillor Steve Colella said: “I’m looking forward to the officers’ presentation to feedback the survey results, so that members can see for themselves what the views of the blue badge holders are in respect of parking in Bromsgrove town.

“This cross party investigation will help show the real views and needs of disabled drivers.

“This evidence base will help direct the council on a very important part of car parking policy, and we look forward to seeing other car parking updates at the meeting as well.”
