Lucky Rubery police officer meets Team GB Olympians

A LUCKY Rubery police officer had the chance to meet Team GB’s successful Olympians during the London victory parade.
Rubery officer PC Pete Sadler was among 14,000 ticket-holders specially chosen to attend the event near to the Queen Victoria Memorial, which was held on September 10.
Although the route was open to all the area around the memorial, where the Olympians and VIPS gathered and gave speeches at the end of the parade, was cordoned off for those deemed to have made a vital contribution to the smooth-running of the Olympics and Paralympics.
These included members of the emergency services, volunteers, and military personnel.
PC Pete Sadler participated in the policing of the games, and was selected at random to attend the parade.
The day was extra special as PC Pete Sadler met Olympic medallists including Beth Tweddle and Jessica Ennis, and Paralympic athletes Natasha Baker and Lee Pearson.
PC Sadler said: "It has been a complete privilege to be a part of the policing of the games.
“It was hard work at times, so it was a great to be rewarded with a ticket to the parade, and get the chance to meet some of the athletes."
