THE owner of a Bromsgrove salon has lost her long hair to make a donation to a charity making wigs for young cancer patients.
Emma Parkins, the owner of Perfections Hair Studio, in the Courtyard in the Strand, had eight inches cut off her hair for the Little Princess Trust charity.
Her off-cuts have been donated to the trust that, from hair donated, provides wigs to young children who have suffered hair loss as a result of chemotherapy treatment.
The real-hair wigs are provided free of charge, with experienced hairdressers offering wigs tailored to the individual child’s needs to give the most realistic look and feel - as close as possible to their original hair.
Emma said it was a simple decision to have the hair cut, and go for a new look, as donating the cuts could make a huge difference to a child somewhere.
Following the success of the scheme, the salon is now offering to cut a minimum of seven inches off anyone’s hair, free of charge, as long as it is donated to the charity.
