TASTY treats were sold at a charity bake off held by Bromsgrove firm last Friday, (September 21).
Absolute Housing, based at the Basepoint Centre in Bromsgrove Technology Park, supported St Basils Bake Off by holding their own bake sale.
St Basils work with young people in the local area who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and operate advice, prevention and supported lodgings services.
One of their county supported accommodation projects is based in Bromsgrove, in New Road.
Absolute Housing recruitment staff regularly visit St Basils’ projects and recruit for them, so they decided to organise a bake off fund-raiser.
The bake sale was well attended, with staff from other firms on the park supporting the event. Overall £172 was raised for the charity.
The proceeds of this year’s bake off are being used to fund learning, skills and work programmes for St Basils young residents, to ensure they have the skills to become independent so that they never have to return to a state where they are in crisis again.
Chris Cerrone, Absolute Housing director, said: “St Basils is a cause I believe in – particularly homelessness and working with young people who are having difficulties in life.
“That’s where my own passion to help people comes from, because of difficulties I had when I was younger; but still set up and run a profit making business.
“I hope I could be an inspiration to these young people who have difficulties in their lives at the moment.”
