YOUNGSTERS from a Bromsgrove school have been taking the lead during play time.

Year four pupils at Millfields First School, in Swift Close, volunteered to become play leaders, who supervise break periods at the school.

The leaders are tasked with ensuring play time is fun and action packed by introducing fun games, and working with other children of different ages to ensure everyone has a happy and safe playtime.

Youngsters also wear red caps so that the other children know they are on duty.

Sarah White, year three teacher and Millfields' PE co-ordinator, said: “Our play leaders are a real asset to Millfields.

“They ensure dinnertime behaviour is good and that the children are engaged in purposeful play.”

One of the leaders, Eden Banner, aged eight, said she enjoyed the role and felt a responsibility to look after the little ones.
