THE island of Jamaica has had many influences on Great Britain and 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of Jamaican Independence.

And, as part of Bromsgrove Black History Month, the Artrix is inviting people to celebrate on Friday, October 5.

Sylvester Williams and Tonia Daley-Campbell will be going on a journey through the Jamaican story told through the eyes of the heroes and heroines who lived it.

These include Bob Marley, Marcus Garvey, Mary Seacole, Queen Nanny of The Maroons and Sir Alexander Bustamente.

The show, ideal for everybody aged 11 plus, starts at 7.30pm.
