Man attacked and car stolen in Catshill
8:30am Thursday 4th October 2012 in News
POLICE in Bromsgrove are appealing for information after a man was attacked, and had his car stolen in Catshill.
The incident occurred at approximately 8.50pm, on Tuesday, October 2, at a house on the estate off Barnsley Hall Road.
The victim, who is in his 40s, was driving into the estate when he passed three males in a blue VW Scirocco driving in the opposite direction.
He parked his blue VW Golf on a driveway, and was looking into the boot, when someone shouted and he turned around to find three males dressed in dark clothing and balaclavas.
One of the offenders shouted ‘give me your keys’, whereupon the victim threw his car keys into a bush, and one of the robbers attacked him, knocking him to the ground.
Two of the males then got into the golf and drove off at speed, while the other ran off in the direction of Appletrees Crescent.
The victim sustained a bump to his head, but did not require medical treatment.
Detective Sergeant Gary Rowe from Bromsgrove CID said: "We are eager to hear from anyone who remembers seeing the blue VW Scirocco (registration CP09 CXV) in the area yesterday evening. It is possible that this Scirocco may have been bearing false number plates. They are not a common car so we hope that it might stick in someone's mind if they saw it, particularly if it was parked in unusual circumstances.
"The Scirocco was seen later in the evening in the Birmingham area but is still outstanding."
Anyone who thinks they might have seen either the Scirocco or Golf since Tuesday, October 2 should contact Det Sgt Rowe on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 606-S-021012, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
