JEWELLERY was taken in a burglary at a property in Stoke Prior.

The incident happened at a large detached house in Whitford Bridge Road, between 8.30am on Monday, October 1, and 8am on Wednesday, October 3.

A rear window was forced, and jewellery was stolen from a bedroom.

Police are still trying to establish exactly what was taken.

House-to-house inquiries have been carried out.

Detectives want to question people who may have been canvassing in the area at the time, and are trying to find out details about them including which companies they work for.

Police also want to hear from anyone living in the road, or the surrounding area, who has CCTV on their premises.

Last month West Mercia Police launched Citadel, a new initiative aimed at driving down the number of burglaries.

Reducing domestic burglaries and catching offenders is a high priority for the force and it is hoped highlighting the issue will encourage people to take the threat of it seriously, and heed crime prevention advice.

Detective Constable Tony Flannagan of West Mercia Police said: "We are urging people to be vigilant and secure their property.

"Valuables should be kept out of view.

“We recommend photographing jewellery and recording any serial numbers or markings, along with a description, which will help the police recover them and prove ownership if they are stolen."
