A BROMSGROVE church is opening its doors to visitors throughout October to celebrate the completion of restoration work.

All Saints Church, in Burcot Lane, has undergone repair work in recent weeks including to the church’s roof.

Scaffolding has been coming down round the church, revealing the church’s new mortar and pieces of stone.

The restoration work was made possible after the church received grants from the English Heritage, Heritage Lottery Repairs Fund, the Worcestershire and Dudley Historic Churches Trust, the National Churches Trust, Lasletts Charities, the R D Turner Trust, Miss Albright’s Grimley Charity, the Bournville Charitable Trust and the Bromsgrove Society.

Bromsgrove people also gave generously to an appeal fund set up by the church, with donations even coming in from former members of the church congregation now living in Yorkshire, Devon and the Isle of Wight.

To celebrate the finishing of the repairs the church will be open on Thursdays during October.

Visitors are welcome anytime between 10.30am-4.30pm, but if they drop in between 10.30am-noon they can join in with knitting and other craft activities.

Hot drinks will be available.

Tessa Carrick, who has led the work of repairing the church, said there had been a marvellous response to the appeal, enabling them to carry out a huge amount of work, and everyone at the church was grateful of the support.

She said: “It’s a really lovely building and we would like many more people to come inside to look at some of the special features.

“The English Heritage architect said that it contains some real gems.”
