Support this year's Poppy Appeal
1:40pm Monday 15th October 2012 in News
POPPY Appeal organisers in Bromsgrove are appealing for more volunteers to support this year’s fund-raiser.
The appeal received fantastic support from Bromsgrove residents in 2011, which helped the overall appeal raise more than £39.5 million, an all time record.
The appeal is the main source of funds to maintain the Royal British Legion’s many welfare and benevolent schemes through which more than 100,000 people are helped each year.
This year’s Poppy Appeal is focusing on the support for the Afghan and Iraq generation.
Since 2003 the charity has helped more than 10,000 serving, ex-service and family members who are part of this generation, and as the Afghan conflict continues in intensity the charity is committed to supporting the serving troops.
The Poppy People campaign is aiming to attract new volunteers for the Bromsgrove area.
Bromsgrove District Council’s civic head Janice Boswell said: “The help that people in Bromsgrove are able to provide will be a major contribution to the success of this year’s Poppy Appeal.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank them in advance for their continued support, which will be greatly appreciated."
Anyone can volunteer, as long as they are over 16-years-old. Anyone interested can ring 0800 085 5924.
