Bromsgrove MP welcomes motorway junction improvements
10:20am Wednesday 17th October 2012 in News
BROMSGROVE MP says he hopes a multi-million scheme to improve a motorway junction will encourage more businesses to come to the town.
The Highways Agency has announced £11.3 million worth of improvements to Junction 4, Lydiate Ash, of the M5.
The work is the second phase of widening the junction, which is expected will help reduce congestion by widening and realigning the roundabout, and improve signage and road markings overall.
The scheme is part of 20 road improvements schemes, costing more than £50 million.
Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has described the improvement work as vital to boosting the economy, reducing congestion and improving safety.
Sajid Javid said he was delighted with the news, and said he knew people throughout Bromsgrove would be.
Sajid said: “Numerous residents have contacted me about this issue, and I have conveyed their concerns to the Transport Secretary in writing and in person.
"This will benefit both the local community and the regional economy, and I hope it will encourage more businesses to look at basing themselves in Bromsgrove."
The improvement work is scheduled to begin in 2014, to be completed in 2015.
