What poverty?

CAN someone explain why, when Bromsgrove District Council is pleading extreme poverty, they are installing big brother type CCTV cameras in car parks?

After the recent withdrawal of the pensioners' parking concession and increases in charges, the car parks are predictably half empty so the expense of CCTV seems pointless. Or is it?

The latest earner' for local government is on-the-spot fines.

Our dynamic district council (the second worst local authority in the country) is clearly jumping on the bandwagon.

What a farce. Years ago the council served the public. Now they merely soak us.

Jeff Newton, Dodford.
