I AM concerned about a stretch of the southbound A38 in Bromsgrove, where there is a short section of dual carriageway after the New Road traffic lights.
The dual carriageway ends abruptly, on a bend, with the only advanced warning being a couple of painted arrows on the tarmac just before two lanes reduce to one.
Since moving to Bromsgrove a year ago, I have witnessed several near misses where drivers unfamiliar with that stretch of the A38 have ended up on the wrong side of the road where the dual carriageway section ends suddenly.
This is an accident waiting to happen, with potential for a high speed head on crash!
Would it not be prudent to at least add staggered warning signs in the centre of the dual carriageway that give advanced warning that the dual carriageway section is ending?
I personally think that there is little reason for that short stretch of dual carriageway, and I wouldn't be sorry to see it as a single lane up to the Charford Road junction, where it widens out again.
