TUTNALL Hall near Bromsgrove, an early 18th century listed building with seven bedrooms, a self-contained annex, four acres of land and a shrubbery, was sold for what was regarded as an extraordinary price of £125,000.

BROMSGROVE'S North Worcestershire College was to be sold to the district council for £1m, however part would remain in the ownership of the county council. Staff homes, the chapel, kitchen and residential block would be converted into accommodation for singles and young married couples. Originally the county had asked for a figure of £2m for the complex.

THE Home Secretary, William Whitelaw, was the guest of honour at Bromsgrove and Redditch Conservative Association's annual dinner and dance held at the Raven Hotel, Droitwich Spa. In his speech he said the fall in the rate of inflation to 4.9 per cent was encouraging and would lead to lower mortgages.
