A 37-YEAR-OLD pilot and his young passenger were killed instantly when their Piper light aircraft crashed into an electricity pylon in thick fog in Waseley Hills Country Park. The former RAF pilot was from Surrey. Debris was scattered over an area of a quarter of a mile.

MEMBERS of Bromsgrove Cricket Club were bracing themselves for a record £4 increase in their subscriptions. This was necessary as the club was said to be facing increased costs of £700 this season. Officials were also calling for some members to be less apathetic and adopt a more positive and supportive attitude.
