BROMSGROVE county court heard the case of Samuel Ince, of Worcester Street, who sued Joseph Guest, also of Worcester Street, for damages sustained when he was knocked down in Stourbridge Road. The defendant had been riding his bike near the washing stocks, while the plaintiff was walking, when the incident happened. The plaintiff alleged he had been unable to work for a week, while the defendant claimed he did not see the plaintiff due to a snowstorm. The judgement went for the plaintiff, being paid £1,1s.
THE first annual dinner for the Foxlydiate and Hewell Flower Show Society was held at the Fox and Goose Inn. Following a good dinner, and once the toast of the king had taken place, planning began for this year's show. Mr LF Lambert hoped that the show would be a spectacular, as well as an educational one. M Gwynne said although they could not control the weather, they looked forward to the August Bank Holiday, when the show would be held, being fine.
THE inquest into the death of John James, nail manufacturer of the New Buildings, Bromsgrove, whose body had been found in Pikes Pool, Finstall, was held at Finstall Village Hall. Many witnesses spoke at the inquest as the coroner attempted to gain an idea of the deceased's movements on the night he died. As there was no evidence on how the deceased came to be in the pool, or of suicide, the jury gave a verdict of "found drowned."
